Whitewater experiences in London and the Home Counties

Founded by kayak instructors Mike and Greg,.
"Loads of parents and other adults said they would love to have the same taste of adventure that the kids were having, so we decided to make it happen".
There's plenty of fun spots in & around London, so come out with us and have some fun.
Select the trips that are best suited to your level of experience

Get started on the quiet reaches of the upper Thames, where you will learn how to ferry glide, break-in to moving water and practice your brace support strokes.
To join this trip you must be competent at kayaking on flat water and have completed a capsize drill.

There are some great spots in the home counties, where you can progress to faster flowing water. Join us on a guided trek where our expert instructors will teach you how to cope with the bigger water and encourage you to try our your new found skills

Let's face it, there are no monster rivers in London and the home counties, but we do have the Lea Valley Whitewater Centre on our doorstep - home of the 2012 Olympic Slalom course.
Join one of our regular trips there to face the biggest whitewater in town.

Before getting out on moving water you'll need to have done some kayaking beforehand.
For complete beginners and those who are a bit rusty and want to brush up their skills first, we can arrange a pool session at a Central London pool.

Great fun. It had been years since I had been out on the water, but I found my stride again in no time. Mike and Greg were encouraging and really helpful.

I did a pool session first, just to convince myself that I could still roll and get out OK if necessary, then on to one of the Thames Tours. Had an amazing time.

Very impressed with the safety consciousness of the team. Also they provide top quality kit and nothing is too much trouble. An absolutely excellent adventure. Highly recommended.
Common Questions
Well, you need to know that you like kayaking before coming on one of our trips, so ideally you will have been out on the water in a kayak before. But once you know one end of a kayak from the other and you're comfortable with your capsize drill, then you can come on one of our trips.
Then one of our trips is probably not for you. We have to consider your safety as well as the safety of others in the group. Whilst we do run introductory courses, you do need a degree of competence first. But don't worry, if you contact us we can recommend a beginners course near you and then hopefully you'll love it enough to come on one of our courses in the future.
Just light clothing and footwear. If you have your own kayaking gear, then feel free to use it, but we provide: kayaks, spraydecks, paddles, helmets, wetsuits and cags.
Yes, you'll be surprised.
Generally, as a first port of call, we would transfer your booking to another trip.
If that is not possible, we can discuss refund options.
Trips run from our centre in Watford. It is best that way, so that we get everyone kitted out before we leave base.
In some circumstances, where an attendee has their own kit and transport we can arrange to meet at the launch point.
